He has been awarded the "Roberto Sala" prize by the Italian Physical Society in 1999 for the best Ph.D. thesis ("Parametric Amplification of Light in Quantum Communication and Measurements") in Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics. In 2000 he has been Research Assistant at Imperial College, London, along with an institutional fellowship at Pavia University until 2004. He has been reasercher of CNR at INFM (National Institute for the Physics of Matter) from 2004 to 2010, and has joined the Institute of Photonics and Nanotechnology (IFN) in 2011. Since 2007 he is also a Contract Professor of the University of Pavia, teaching advance courses in Quantum Computation, Quantum Optics, and Statistical Mechanics in the Faculty of Physics. His research is mainly theoretical in the field of Quantum Information, Quantum Measurements, Quantum Estimation Theory, Quantum Tomography, and Quantum Optics. He partecipated to several funded research projects, both national and European, in concert with the Quantum Information Theory Group of Pavia University.
